Adilabad: Within a week of the theft in the house of G Nagesh, Adilabad MP, the police nabbed the three thieves and recovered the looted gold ornaments weighing 125 gms and Rs 37,000 cash from them.

According to Superintendent of Police Srinivas, Mohaz and his two accomplices conducted recce two days prior to the theft in the MP’s house. They managed the CCTV cameras stopping them from recording their offence.

The police also recovered CCTV parts like hard disk, removed by the miscreants while breaking the house, from the them. The cops also recovered the gold ornaments that were melted and sold in Maharashtra.

Condemning the MP’s criticism against him, SP Srinivas clarified that it was not proper to regard it as a police failure in the backdrop of a series of robberies.

He said that Mohaz was a notorious thief, who was released from jail on September 26 and committed the offence on September 27. He was involved in as many as 22 thefts from chain-snatching to looting Axis Bank branch.

Mohaz had destroyed the CCTV camera and removed the hard disk. He proceeded to Dharmapuri in Jagtial district to hoodwink the police and from there he went to Maharashtra where he melted the stolen gold jewellery and sold it. The SP said they would invoke PD Act against thieves to check robberies.
