Mancherial: Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) employees’ protest demonstration demanding regularisation of their services reached second day on Tuesday.

Earlier, as part of the protest programme employees took out a rally from IB Circle to the district SERP office. They placed a memorandum containing their demands at the feet of the Mahatma Gandhi statue.

They said, “We are the bridge between the people and the government to take government activities to people.” They criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for not keeping his promise of making their jobs permanent. They lamented that they are still in pitiable condition even after formation of the new State.

The employees demanded equal wages for equal work and regularisation of their services. Their list of demands included promotion for HR employees and increment of Rs 750 for those, who have been promoted from L1 to L2.

The employees threatened to intensify the agitation if their demands aren’t met. SERP JAC leader Vijaya Lakshmi, Ram Chander, Gaddam Srinivas, Krupa Rani, Uma Rani and Ramesh took part.
