Peddapalli: District in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy has inaugurated the CD about e-Pass system during a training programme for fertiliser dealers on e-Pass system. Agriculture department had organised the training at Arya Vysya Bhavan in Peddapalli on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that both the State and Central governments had introduced e-PASS system to supply fertilisers to the farmers on subsidy. About 60 per cent of the people still depend on agriculture-based sectors and even a slightest change in the field of agriculture will bring about major changes in nation’s economy, he added.

After noticing that the living standards of the farmers has not changed even after providing subsidies on several things, the Centre had transformed the fertilisers subsidy into direct money transfer project and implementing across the country, he explained.

As part of the project, the dealers must sell fertilisers through e-Pass devices only. To make them aware of how to use the devices properly, a training programme was conducted for the dealers. The dealers will be given training on how to link Aadhaar card and sell fertilisers to farmers.

Farmers must purchase fertilisers through e-pass system only by bringing their Aadhaar cards to the shops and they will get the subsidy immediately as soon as they purchase the fertilisers. The dealers also will not face problem of writing and maintaining of records.

To maintain transparency, the government is implementing e-Pass system like that of civil supply department, which had introduced the same in ration shops. Stating that there will not be any loss to the dealers, the in-charge Collector urged them to cooperate in the implementation of this system successfully. District Agriculture Officer Thirumal Prasad and the officials of departments concerned were present along with fertilisers dealers.
