Warangal: The process of admissions into Ph D programmes offered by Kakatiaya University was being delayed by one issue after another. The admission process, which was already behind schedule, was set to be delayed further with the university administration setting up a sub-committee to examine the representation of students for reconsideration of norms for category-II students (seeking admission through entrance) of 2015-16.

It might be noted that the university authorities have issued a combined notification for Ph D/M Phil admissions for 2015-16 and 2016-17 years in February this year and exams were held in April. But admissions have not taken place as students staged protests over alleged slipups in results announcement.

Now with several students demanding the administration to change the norms to offer admissions based on the ‘guide willing’ and others, the university has appointed the sub-committee on Tuesday to look into the matter. This might delay the admissions process further, the students were complaining.

The five-member sub-committee headed by Prof Y Prameela Devi was asked to submit its report latest by November 11. Professors S Sreenath, S Kamaleshwar Rao and K Purushotham were members of the sub-committee along with deputy registrar (academic branch). The standing committee of the Academic Senate at its meeting held recently resolved to constitute the sub-committee following pressure from the different student unions.
