Karimnagar: To maintain law and order, peace and harmony in the city, section 144 Cr.P.C was imposed under commissionerate limits in Karimnagar from 5 pm on Tuesday (December 5) to 6 am on December 7, informed Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy.-- In a statement released here on Tuesday, the top cop said section 144 was imposed based on the information that certain groups were trying to create disturbances in the city in connection with the anniversary of demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya.
As per the section, it is prohibited to organise processions, dharnas, rallies (including motor cycle rally) and public meetings. Individuals or group of individuals, who delivers speech, gestures, or display pictures, symbols, placards or flags, which may create religious animosity or hatred between different communities or individuals, are likely to face action as per law, he warned.
The CP also warned of criminal cases against the persons, who encourages or motivates or provokes people to indulge in anti-social activities or any kind of disputes that may disturb the law and order. Police officers and Military personnel, who are on duty along with home guards, are given exemption from the section 144 and those, who take permission beforehand from police department, informed the Commissioner. Kamalasan Reddy urged the people to cooperate with the police department in this regard.
