Asifabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) North Zone Nagi Reddy, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal and Asifabad Superintendent of Police Kalmeshwar Singanawar on Monday held peace meetings in four mandals and the police took out flag march in 10 sensitive villages in the wake of clashes between Adivasis and Lambadas.

While addressing the villagers during the peace meetings in four mandals including Jainur, Sirpur (U) and Lingapur, Nagi Reddy stressed on peace, tolerance and communal harmony and added violence gets people nowhere. Violence makes the problems complex. They spoke to the villagers of Jendaguda, Polasa, Ushagam, Sivanoor and other villages and appealed them to cooperate with the police for the peace to herald. They made it clear that the police would not tolerate if anyone was found abetting violence.

The villagers recalled how the police helped them in the past. The police relaxed prohibitory orders in the affected villages for three hours as no untoward incidents were reported from the affected villages. The police asked the villagers not to give credence to rumours and called for united efforts for the peace to herald.
