Warangal: A total of six candidates have filed nominations for GWMC 44th ward by-election. The BJP nominee, K Santhosh Reddy, has filed his nomination papers in Warangal on Friday, the last day for submitting the nominations. The party activists and leaders took out a massive rally from the party election office to the corporation.

The party district president Rao Padma, party erstwhile Warangal in-charge B Bal Reddy, Warangal urban in-charge Meesala Chandraiah, state vice-presidents M Dharma Rao and T Rajeshwar Rao, state official spokesperson A Rakesh Reddy and others took part in the rally.

An ex-MP, Ch Janga Reddy, Padma and others have appealed the voters to elect the party nominee Santhosh Reddy. The affairs in Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) were in a bad state and there was a need of a strong opposition to question the ruling TRS, they said.

Despite claims of the State government allocating huge funds to Warangal city development, there was no visible development in the city. The implementation of various Central government sponsored development programmes was going on at snails’ pace, the leaders alleged.

The party leaders A Ashok Reddy, V Papaiah, KVLN Raju, G Yadagiri and others were present. The names of candidates, who filed nominations for the by-election were as follows: Anishetty Saritha (TRS), Kolanu Santhosh Reddy (BJP) and K Ratna (BJP dummy nominee), independent candidates Banka Rakesh, S Rajanikanth and Srinivas. Meanwhile, Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker along with the party nominee Saritha carried out door-to-door campaigning in the 44th ward. He asked the voters to support the widow of Anishetty Murali, who got elected as the ward member and was murdered a few months ago.
