She got first place in Kuchipudi segment at All India National Dance competitions, organised by Navya Nataka Samithi held recently in Hyderabad, according to a release here on Thursday.

Bharathanatyam exponent from Chennai, Sheela Unnikrishnan, who attended the prize distribution ceremony, was impressed with her dancing skills and invited her to perform in Natya Darshan programme at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Tamil Nadu capital.

Ten-year-old Akshara presented Kuchipudi dance in front of legendaries of dance like Kruthika Subrahmanyam, Vaijayanti Kache, Gopika Verma, Ramli Ibrahim, classical dance critic Sunil Kotari and impressed them all. She is the girl, who performed Kuchipudi dance first time from Telangana in Chennai.

The student has been undergoing training in the classical dance form at Sadguru Shivananda Nrutyamala Dance School, run by a noted dance master Bompally Sudheer Rao. Her parents Neeli Anil Kumar and Swapna informed that Akshara has 1st place in Kuchipudi segment and stood at second place in Bharata Natyam segment at National Balotsavam- 2016 held at Kothagudem. Similarly, she won second prize at Srujanotsavalu-2016 for her Kuchipudi performance.
