Parents stage protest at college over son’s suicide

The family members staged a protest at college, along with the dead body, demanding justice and shouted slogans against the college management. The parents told presspersons that their son died due to the negligence of the management.They alleged that their son was reportedly harassed by the college authorities for his bad performance in studies.

“My son recently appeared for a pre-final test. He seems to have scored less. The authorities might have scolded him,which made our son to commit suicide”, lamented Ashok Kumar, a teacher at a government school at Wardhannapet in Warangal rural district.

According to the students’ mother Anitha their son went to the college hostel at around 7 am on Tuesday and he reportedly jumped off the hostel compound wall and went out at 10 am on that day.

But the college informed them about the incident happened at 4 pm following which they looked for him at various places in the city. ‘If the college informed us immediately we could have rescued our son and today we found him dead, no parent should face this kind of fate’ she grieved.

“The management failed to monitor students even after collecting lakhs of rupees as fees. None from the college visited MGM Hospital mortuary where my son’s body was kept and that was why we came here. The State government must seize the college” she demanded. However, the College Management maintained silence over the incident.

Kazipet railway police registered a case and investigating the incident. Inspector Venkateshwarlu said Rahul’s body was found on railway track between Kazipet and Pendyal railway stations and no suicide letter was found with the body.
