Hanamkonda: The activists of Communist Party of India (Marxist) demanded that the district administration must take action against a realtor, who was trying to displace poor people living on the outskirts of the city.

According to the CPM state committee member N Ratnamala and the party district secretariat member G Prabhakar Reddy, nearly 250 families have been living in a piece of government land under survey numbers 340/1 and 341 of Urs Nanmiyathota for the past 20 years. The residents were given temporary house numbers, ration cards, voter ID cards, electricity, roads and drainage facilities. Most of the residents belong to SC/ST, BC and minority communities. Former minister B Saraiah, when he was minister, directed the officials to issue title deeds to them.

The TRS legislators K Muralidhar Rao and K Surekha also visited the locality and promised to provide title deeds to the residents. In 2013, officials have conducted a survey and submitted a report to the government, the leaders reminded here on Monday. But, few days ago a realtor called P Anil Kumar has threatened the residents to vacate the place immediately else, the houses would be demolished. The realtor produced fake documents and was making claims of getting a possession certificate of the land from local tahsildar, Ratnamala complained.

The issue was taken to the notice of Fort Warangal tahsildar, but the official has been acting indifferently. It was sad that the government officials, who supposed to support the poorer sections, were favouring the land grabbers, she noted. In connection with the issue, the CPM leaders have submitted memorandum to the district revenue officer S David and revenue divisional officer Venkat Reddy. The officials in turn have reportedly directed the tahsildar Sammaiah to look into the matter.

The party leaders wanted the district revenue officials to stop the illegal construction works being executed by the realtor and take legal action against him. Party leaders S Krishna, Md Akbar Khan, Saidamma, Md Alam and others were present.
