Huzurabad (Karimnagar): The Congress led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Vice-president Ponnam Prabhakar and CLP Deputy Leader T Jeevan Reddy took out a rally here on Friday to protest against Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala’s decision to invite Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Karnataka.

Ponnam Prabhakar said that it was a murder of democracy in Karnataka. “Although the Congress extended its support to JD(S), how can the Governor invite BJP, which clearly fell short of numbers in the Assembly required, to form the government,” he criticised.

However, the BJP did not emerge as the single largest party in the Assembly elections held in Meghalaya, Goa and other States, it was invited to form the government with the support of other parties with whom it had forged an alliance after the elections, he said, pointing out why the Governor had not taken similar decision in Karnataka.

T Jeevan Reddy said that it is a mockery of Constitution by Narendra Modi-led Central government. “Denying the JD(S) to form the government is undemocratic. The BJP is using different yardsticks according to its convenience,” he said, citing recent examples where BJP was invited to form the government in different States along with its post-poll coalition partners.

The leaders questioned the silence of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao who recently met with JD(S) H D Deve Gouda and Kumaraswamy for their support with regard to the formation of Federal Front.

They alleged that though KCR is opposing the BJP government he has an understanding with that party. Senior leaders V Hanumantha Rao, D Sridhar Babu, Padi Koushik Reddy and Aligireddy Praveen Reddy were among others present.
