Warangal: Inspector General of Police of Warangal Region Ravi Gupta has called upon the police to protect the interests of poorer and suppressed sections. Gupta, who have been appointed as IG of Warangal Region recently, visited the police head quarters here on Monday. He was accorded a ceremonial welcome by the police after the Urban and Rural Superintendents of police, A Venkateswar Rao and G Palaraju received him. Later, he held a review meeting along with the urban and rural SPs on the functioning of the district police regarding the general law and order situation, types of crimes being registered at sub divisional level. The IG also enquired about the dial 100 programme and steps being taken by the police and the computerization of the department. He also discussed about the Maoist movement in the agency areas and the steps being taken to contain it. The IG said the Andhra Pradesh police was known for its proficiency and capabilities which every employee should strive to uphold, exhorted while adding that Additional SPs, K Srikanth and B Umamaheshwar, OSD Y Sayesekhar and AR commandant Prabhakar, DSPs, CIs and other officials were present. Newly elected Police Officers Association presidents B Shobhan and P Ashok called on the IG and apprised him about the association activities.
