Janagon (Warangal): A P Government is giving subsidized rice at the cost of Government exchequer to the tune of Rs 10,500 crore, said IT Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah. He said that Government took the programmes of Re-1- a kg of rice and Amma Hastham seriously to benefit the poor. He launched Amma Hastham programme in Janagaon and Cheryal mandals in the district and addressed series of meetings on Monday. District Collector Rahul Bojja and MLC Nagapuri Rajalingam were present.
He said that nowhere in the country the welfare programmes are taken up so well as in A P. He said that general inflation would have least impact on the downtrodden with the Government schemes catering to them.A He said that for agriculture and animal husbandry Government spends Rs 6,000 crore. The fact that in Janagaon alone, 48,000 litres of milk is being procured speaks volume about the development.
He said that giving 50 percent reservations to women in local bodies is the credit of Congress party. He said that in order to utilize the funds for the downtrodden, SC, ST sub-plan was given constitutional teeth. Collector Rahul Bojja, Additional Joint Collector Sanjivaiah and others participated in the Minister's programme.
