hou1 Nidamarru (West Godavari district): The subsidy amount for houses being constructed for poor has been increased from the present Rs 40,000 to Rs 70,000, announced State Tourism, Cultural, Sports and Youth Services Minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar here on Saturday. The decision, he said, would come into force from April 1 onwards. The Minister participated in the revenue sadassu held at Chanamilli village of Nidamarru mandal. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the beneficiaries to expedite construction of their houses by availing government concessions. Four acres of land has been acquired in Chanamilli village for distribution among poor free of cost, he informed. He asked the people to utilise the revenue meets to solve their problems related to land.

The Minister congratulated the district administration for providing cent per cent irrigation to farmers under Rabi season. Though the irrigation officials were apprehensive of meeting the water requirements of farmers, the district administration saw to it that all the farmers were supplied with irrigation water. He praised the efforts of District Collector Vani Mohan, Joint Collector Baburao Naidu and other revenue officials in this regard.
