lockDepartment of Information Technology, GITAM University, in association with IEEE will organise a two-day national workshop on 'Privacy and Security in Cloud Computing' at its Hyderabad Campus from March 22 to 23. The workshop aims to provide a common platform for discussions and deliberations to share the technological development in computer science and information technology. Cloud computing model provides ubiquitous, on-demand access to computing resources like networks, servers, applications and storage. Users and enterprises avoid capital for purchasing and managing hardware, software and operational overhead so that they can focus on core aspects of their business. As cloud computing becomes prevalent, more sensitive information is being centralised into the cloud such as personal health records, corporate intellectual property, government documents etc. The main obstacle in opening the new era of computing as utility is security and privacy of sensitive data in the cloud.A The workshop will discuss topics like security issues in cloud computing, cloud computing and virtualisation, data security and storage in cloud, encryption and key management in cloud, performance monitoring for cloud application, windows azure development and research directions in cloud computing. Dr Atul Negi, HCU; Dr B Bruhadeswar, IIIT, Hyderabad; RS Prasada Rao, Director, CtrlS; PR Lakshmi, C-DAC; Lavanya Chundi, Mahindra Satyam and Mritnyujay Badhadauria, Edukinect will participate in this workshop as resource persons. It is useful to the UG/PG students, researchers, academicians and persons from Industry. Last date for registration for the workshop is March 20.
