Hyderabad: Remembering the icon of Carnatic music, M S Subbulakshmi, M S Subbulakshmi centenary celebrations were held in the Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Students paid tributes to the legendary musician in her hundredth year of birth rendering her soulful songs like Bhaja Govindam, Kurai ondrum, Brahma Kadigina Paadam, Dolayaanchala, Bhavayaami Raghuram and playing Suprabhatam on veena and spoke about her contributions and irreplaceable influence over classical music, her fine performances that she essayed in movies, awards and honor, Tithi Tripathi of Class VIII role played MS Amma, as she was fondly called, with an aura of purity and devotion.

Principal Jayanthi Venkataraman told the students the other side of MS that she was a modest student who started her musical journey at the age of 16 but had the urge to learn more though she had immortalised many of the songs. She further added intense practice and hard work are the key to inspired performances and recognitions.
