This week Google Maps is turning 15 years old. Google is rolling out a major update for Google Maps before its birthday. The new update brings a revamped UI, new logo, and more other features.

Beginning from today, Google Maps users will start receiving a new update on their iPhones and Android smartphones. Now the updated UI gets five new tabs which will make it easier for users to commute and also help in exploring new places. The new five tabs are Commute, Contribute, Explore, Saved, and Updates.

Google is also changing the logo of Google Maps. The logo which gets a "location pin dropped on a map" design is now modified to just the location pin. Also, it is not red any more. The location pin now gets Google's rainbow-coloured theme. Users will also be able to see a party-themed UI when they navigate the app though this will be for a limited time.

Google Maps New Features

Moreover, as a part of its birthday celebrations, Google is adding more insights to its crowd predictions feature, which was launched out last year. This feature also lets users see if the bus, train, or subway they are getting in is crowded or not.

Now Google Maps will be giving more information like the temperature inside their rides, accessibility to entry, stop button, seating, and security onboard. Google Maps will also feature if the public ride has a women's section or not.

Google Maps is also receiving a Live View feature. Initially, the feature was rolled out last year as a beta update on Android and iOS versions of the app. Now the update will be available as a stable final update. Though, the feature is still not available in India.
