APRA provides ammo to Congress MPs to fight against Centre
The party leaders believe that fight for the implementation of the promises made in the APRA would help the Congress to gain strength in the State
Hyderabad: The promises being made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 would be the weapons for the Congress of MPs of the State to fight in the Parliament against the Centre.
The party leaders believe that fight for the implementation of the promises made in the APRA would help the Congress to gain strength in the state. They are hoping that the three MPs would deliver this during their term.
Speaking to The Hans India, Pradesh Congress Committee treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy said that it would be the Congress which has the opportunity to fight with the Centre on the APRA promises.
He said that as the BJP was now in ruling at the Centre its leaders could not make efforts for the implementation of the promises. At the same time the TRS is not in the good books with the Centre.
He said that though the TRS has good opportunity to fight with the Centre in the past five years for the implementation of the promises, it has failed. He said that though the TRS had 14 members support in Lok Sabha it was unable to deliver.
Narayana Reddy said that the TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao's fancy with the idea of Hippocratic Federal Front has spoiled his relations with the Centre.
With the jolt he has received with the results of the Parliament elections, now he has no way than following the Congress.
Congress leaders said that at the time of the bifurcation of the State, in 2014, the UPA government has made several promises, which include establishment of steel factory at Bayyaram of old Khammam district, coach factory at Kazipet, providing AIIMS status to one hospital of the State and national project status to one of the irrigation projects.
However, the Centre did not bother to implement any one of the promises it has made. The BJP did not take interest in implementing them in the past five years.
The Congress was unable to fight with the Centre as it did not have effective representation from State in the Lok Sabha. In the previous Lok Sabha it got only two members and one of them has switched over to TRS.
Now with the PCC chief himself is representing the State in the Lok Sabha and he got the support of flamboyant leaders and MPs like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and A Revanth Reddy, the state Congress would be able to put up a good fight with the Centre.
The Congress leaders said that the upcoming budget session of the Parliament would be a good opportunity for the MPs in this regard. They would raise the failure in implementing the promises of APRA.
