BJP livid at KCR for 'failure' to provide amenities at Medaram
Telangana BJP State president Dr K Laxman criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for failing to deliver on his promise of creating necessary amenities for pilgrims coming for Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara.
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP State president Dr K Laxman criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for failing to deliver on his promise of creating necessary amenities for pilgrims coming for Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara.
Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said crores of pilgrims from different States participate in the Jatara and offer prayers and presents to the forest goddesses, Sammakka and Saralamma.
"It was more than two years that Chandrashekar Rao had promised to take up development activities with an outlay of Rs 200 crore. This includes constructing a check dam at Jampanna Vagu, for providing clean water to the pilgrims coming to the Jatara and to organise the Jatara on the lines of Kumbh Mela," he stated.
But, the State government had allocated only Rs 98 crore. Even the works taken up with the allocated funds have become a boon for those affiliated to the ruling party to secure works, he added.
He said that it was for the first time that four district collectors have been transferred in a month. It is "just to handover contracts as per the TRS government whims and fancies," he alleged.
The BJP leader said lack of proper facilities had earlier resulted in people falling to the snake bites and taking ill. It was against this backdrop that the BJP has decided to send medical teams to the Jatara and to organise a medical camp.
A BJP delegation led by him will be offering the jaggery to the forest goddesses for the prosperity and development of Telugu people and others, he said.
Laxman also criticised the chief minister for giving a raw deal and using Hindus only for securing votes through his appeasement policies ignoring his promises to take up development of Yadagirigutta, Lal Darwaza and other Hindu pilgrim places in the State.
Contrary to this, the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has taken steps for the construction of a grand temple of Lord Ram at Ayodhya, he said.
