Centre in a hurry on division of AP, Telangana assets

Hyderabad: The Union government hastened the process for the long-pending division of assets between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the fulfilment of promises made under AP Reorganisation Act to the two Telugu states.
The Union Ministry of Home has summoned the official representatives of Telangana and AP government to New Delhi on Friday and reviewed the progress in the fulfilment of the promises and also pending un-apportioned debts and liabilities between the two states.
Telangana Finance Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and AP official Prem Chandra Reddy, who attended the meeting, explained the Central authorities the urgent need to the establishment of educational institutions mainly AIIMs, Tribal University, National Institute of Disaster Management and Horticulture University in their respective states. The authorities assured the states of allocation of funds at the earliest as the Centre already gave its nod to set up the institutions recently.
The issues pertaining to the establishment of Duggarajupatnam port, steel plants in Bayyaram in Telangana and Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh, Vizag- Chennai industrial corridor, speed of the establishment of new railway zone in Visakhapatnam, railway coach factory in Kazipet in Telangana and the pending national highway project workers in the two states were discussed in detail.
The division of assets mainly the power dues owed to each other to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore came for discussion. The authorities asked the two state governments to resolve the assets distribution and repatriation of Telangana employees from AP amicably. The officials said that the Centre responded positively to address all the pending issues through a dialogue.
