Hyderabad: Congress MLA Seethakka on Saturday demanded the government to extend the benefits of Rythu Bandhu scheme to the tenant and traditional tribal farmers.
Speaking during the discussion on the Thanksgiving Motion to Governor, she said that the non-resident Indians have been given Rythu Bandhu whereas tenant and traditional tribal cultivators who actually till the soil were not given the benefit.
She said that the government has announced Each One Teach One programme and it should be implemented, Osmania and Kakatiya universities should be given funds, no teacher recruitment was taken up, and atrocities on women were on the rise.
She said that the liquor was flowing freely in the villages and the poor families are getting destroyed. Though the gudumba (country liquor) was prevented, cheap liquor is being sold through the belt shops which mushroomed in each and every corner of the State.
The government has been announcing that it would construct 2.60 lakh 2BHKs since four years and the scheme was not completed. The promise to provide Dalits with three acres was not kept, SC and ST sub plan was not implemented and the power utilities have Rs 20,000 crores arrears.
BJP MLA Raja Singh said that though 959 residential schools have been established they were not provided with own buildings. Teachers were not recruited, and about 9,000 government schools have been closed. He said that the farmers have been committing suicides, the gudumba distillers were not compensated, the chief minister did not visit Dhoolpet as promised, Pay Revision Commission Report was not accepted, though State took Pradhan Mantrhi Awas Yojana funds they were not spent for the purpose, and government failed to establish Disha police stations like in Andhra Pradesh.
Intervening during the speeches of Seethakka and Raja Singh, the chief minister said that the Rythu Bandhu scheme could not be extended to tenant and traditional tribal farmers. He refuted the comments that government schools have been closed.
