Nagarkurnool: The death of a farmer sparked protests in Polmur village of Tadur mandal in Nagarkurnool district on Friday. According to relatives of the deceased farmer and the villagers, Venkataiah (36) had one acre assigned government land in his name in Polmur village. However, the village Sarpanch who belongs to Telangana Rashtra Samithi along with his associates had forcefully taken the land and started constructing a gram panchayat office building.

Even though he had filed complaints in the Tadur Tahsildar's office and lodged complaints with the higher authorities, no one came to his rescue to stop the Sarpanch and his associates from encroaching his land. This pushed Venkataiah into deep depression.

On Friday, Venkataiah, after realising that all his attempts to get back his land back were going futile, developed high blood pressure and suffered cardiac arrest.

Enraged over his death, the villagers along with the relatives of Venkataiah went to Tadur police station and staged a protest demanding justice. The police and the villagers entered into a scuffle as the irate villagers barged into the police station.
