It was in December 2008 when the then AP police encountered three accused in the acid attack case on two engineering students Swapnika and Pranitha. The case was handled by the then Superintendent of Police VC Sajjanar.

Srinivas, P Harikrishna and Sanjay were gunned down by the police when they were taken to recreate the crime scene. When the accused tried to escape from the scene, the police shot them dead. Srinivas Rao was the main accused who had thrown acid on Swapnika after she rejected his proposal. The encounter was then appreciated by the public and praised the police.

Eleven years after, the same incident has been surfaced where the accused in Disha case have been encountered by the police when they tried to flee from the crime scene at Chatanpally. Disha's case is being handled by the Cyberabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar. The CP confirmed that the encounter was done between 3 am and 6 pm at Chantanpally and inspected the spot.

On Friday, the police took the accused into custody and have been taken to the crime scene at Thondupalli toll booth and Chatanpally. While the police collecting the details, the accused tried to escape from the police who fired at them, it is said. However, the police have been applauded by the entire nation as the accused was given death punishment.
