Mancherial: According to the Marriage Act, every marriage should be registered, said District Collector Bharathi Hollikeri at an awareness programme held at FCA function hall here on Wednesday.

Participating as a chief guest, she said that after marriage every couple should registrar their marriage in the Sub-Registrar office, Municipal or Panchayat office. In case if a man marries for a second time, this will be useful for the woman to demand alimony and also to stop the second marriage. Marriage certificate is useful for soldiers and other government employees and also for those who are going abroad. Collector ordered the district officials to create awareness among the public on child marriages, which should be prevented.

Zilla parishad CEO Narender, District Welfare Officer Rawuf Khan, District Panchayat Officer Veerabuchaiah, Child Protection Officer Anand, mandal development officer, panchayat secretaries, PRDs and child helpline staff and others were present.
