Hyderabad: Rumours did rounds on Thursday that a sample test done at Gandhi Hospital came out positive and it was being sent to NIV, Pune for confirming the test done here. Also, it was speculated that one among the two Chinese nationals admitted in Gandhi tested positive to the deadly virus.

However, in an official statement issued in the evening, Gandhi Superintendent Dr Sravan said that no positive case was detected in Gandhi so far and they also did not confirm any positive case until now. He said results would be out on Friday morning and until that time appealed to all not to spread false news.

State nodal officer for coronavirus Dr Vijay Kumar said that samples were taken only on Thursday and their results to be out would take a few hours. How is it possible to send the test to NIV, Pune even before the sample result is out, he questioned.

Meanwhile, Gandhi Hospital administration is learnt to have come down heavily on a corporate hospital for reportedly sending a sample for coronavirus test on Thursday.

It is learnt that the corporate hospital sent a sample of a six-month-old baby girl for nCoV test after pressure from parents and relatives (from Bandlaguda) despite attending doctors explaining them their baby was suffering from normal flu and they did not worry about coronavirus as they don't have travel history to China also.

Gandhi Hospital has refused to take the sample and sought to know from the corporate hospital on what basis they took out a sample on their own without following due protocol instead of referring the patient to Gandhi Hospital.

They asked the private hospital to send the patient directly to them so that they could assess their health condition and guide them accordingly. It is learnt that the baby recovered by evening and was discharged from the hospital also.
