Girl commits suicide after learning about fiancé's marriage
A woman, who went into depression after coming to know about her fiancé marrying another woman, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance on Friday and died on Sunday while undergoing treatment in the Gandhi hospital.
Hyderabad: A woman, who went into depression after coming to know about her fiancé marrying another woman, committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance on Friday and died on Sunday while undergoing treatment in the Gandhi hospital.
According to police, the victim identified as Gorla Malleshwari (24), a private employee, was engaged to her relative Maram Sudhakar in the presence of elders early this year. However, Sudhakar later informed Malleshwari family members that he was not interested in marrying Malleshwari.
Surprised family members later lodged a complaint in the police station and a case of cheating booked against him.
After learning about the case, Sudhakar assured the family members that he would marry Malleshwari before the elders of their community.
Later on October 8, Sudhakar sent a WhatsApp message to Malleshwari's brother stating that he was getting married to another woman at Penchalakona temple in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh and invited the entire family to attend his marriage.
When the victim came to know about the marriage, she slipped into depression and consumed some poisonous substance at her residence at Chinnakandiguda in Yapral on Friday and fell unconscious.
The family members along with the support of locals shifted her to Gandhi Hospital where she succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Police registered a case against Sudhakar under section 306 IPC and are investigating.
