Hyderabad: while the entire was observing the Janata Curfew on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and most of the people preferred to stay indoors on Sunday, there were few who dared to oppose the diktat and faced the music.

The City Police who were on a mission to stop the vehicular traffic, witnessed some motorists who did not follow the government orders roaming about.They counselled and questioned them for venturing out of their homes.

In order to teach lesson to others, the Panjagutta police came up with an innovative idea. The police made the motorists to stand near the Panjagutta signal by holding a placard in their hands which read, "Avoid crowd be proud", "I support Janta Curfew", "Avoid unnecessary travelling, stay safe".

The Punjagutta ACP Thirupathanna said "We made the motorists stand with the placards for around 15 to 20 minutes and then counseled them on the importance of social distancing before asking them to go back homes."

However, the scene was totally different at Mettuguda junction, as the cops issued challans of Rs. 500 to motorists who violated the government order and came out of their homes.

The officer said, "we issued challans only to the ones who have come out of their houses without any purpose, but emergency services were being let off."

Another top official of city police on condition of anonymity said, "we issued 476 challans and seized 117 vehicles in the entire city for not following the government order."
