Secunderabad: Alerted by increasing positive cases of Novel Coronavirus, all passengers coming to the Secunderabad station are being screened as part of precautionary measures.

To protect the passengers and prevent the spread of the virus, the railway officials have installed thermal screening unit and are providing hand sanitisers at the station. Thermal screening is being done from 7 am to 10 pm at the station. The passenger rush at the station has come down significantly due to the virus scare. Officials said that the Railways was taking all necessary measures to prevent the virus spreading among rail passengers. Railway bogies and platforms were being sanitised using sprayers, they added.

Addressing the media, Station director CH Jayaram said efforts were being made to keep the station surroundings and railway bogies clean. Apart from conducting thermal screening of all passengers, hand sanitisers were being provided to every passenger and were being told to take necessary precautions, he said. Passengers were being advised to maintain distance, especially from those suffering from cold and cough, he said. Jayaram said that pamphlets explaining various precautions to be taken to prevent the virus were being distributed to passengers as part of awareness campaign on Covid-19. Passengers were also urged to follow safety norms suggested by railway authority for their safe journey.

Indian Railways Station Development senior officer Kurra Srinivas told media that special care was being taken to ensure safety of passengers. To prevent the spread of virus hand sanitisers were being provided to every passenger. He urged people to be aware of precautions and take proper care to protect themselves from the virus.
