Shalibanda: A bare-chested whitener addict created nuisance at the SBI branch in Shamsheergunj at Shalibanda prompting the bank employees to alert police, who found it difficult to control the man who was holding blade and had earlier injured himself after banging his head against a wall.

According to the bank customers, for past few days there has been an increase of menace like 'whiteners' (reference to whitener addicts) in the area. Intoxicated by the whitener which is used for erasing print on the paper, some of the youth were creating nuisance. "Most of the time they beg and trouble the women going on roads and creating nuisance on road causing traffic jams. This particular youngster was creating nuisance for past 3-4 days near SBI bank in Shamsheergunj and troubling the customers carrying cash. ", said a customer.

According to witnesses, on Thursday, a whitener addict entered the bank with a blade and started making nuisance and troubling the customers carrying cash. Ironically, even the bank staff asked the customers not to withdraw cash, while pointing out at his presence. The police who arrived at the scene also found it tough to handle him, as he threatened to injure himself with blade. After high drama of about an hour, policemen along with a customer caught hold of him and took away from bank. They later helped him dress up and warned him not to make nuisance.

Customers requested the bank officials and police to free the area from such troublemakers and move them to rehabilitation centers for finding a cure.
