Hyderabad: For recovering property tax (2019-20) from defaulters, the GHMC on Thursday proposed to waive off 80 per cent interest on arrears under One Time Amnesty Scheme. During the last financial year, the Corporation received tax from 9,89,524 out of a total of 16,39,238 property owners and collected a total Rs 1,394.72 crore as against the target of Rs 1,800 crore.

The standing committee meeting chaired by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan also resolved to install traffic signals at 155 junctions and extending of contract period at 221 junctions. For restoring 201 bus shelters, the GHMC will be inviting tenders. For traders who lost their properties due to road widening as part of Metro Rail works at L B Nagar, the GHMC has decided to initiate tender process for providing space at Vanasthalipuram's Model Market.

Other major decisions include continuation of GHMC call centre 040-21111111 services, shifting of 33 KVOH powerline from Indira Park to facilitate works of elevated corridor from Indira Park to VST junction. A total of 33 items received approval out of 34 enlisted in the Agenda.
