Hyderabad: TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday demanded that the State government must break its silence on the community transmission of novel Coronavirus in Telangana State.

Narayana Reddy, in a media statement, said that the State government should inform the people whether or not Telangana has already entered stage-3 of Coronavirus. He said many cases have surfaced in the last few days which clearly indicate that Coronaviurs has entered the stage of community transmission. Citing examples, he said one TRS MLA was reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. Another ex-MLA of BJP was also tested positive in the past. Similarly, the driver of GHMC Mayor B Rammohan, PA of Finance Minister Harish Rao and a few others were also tested positive.

The Congress leader advised Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to come out of denial mode for everything. "We cannot win the war against Coronavirus by hiding the facts. We must learn to accept the reality to have a head-on battle against Covid-19," he said. Narayana Reddy said that the findings of a serological survey conducted by Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) could not be used to make claims of 'no community transmission' in Telangana.

He said the survey was done in specified areas for just two days. Only 1200 samples were collected in three districts of Jangaon, Kamareddy and Nalgonda between May 15 and 17 and just 500 samples were collected in five containment zones of Hyderabad, Adibatla, Tappachabutra, Miyapur, Chandanagar and Balapur on May 30 and 31.
