According to the CI Balaraju, K Bhuvansurya Reddy (31), a native of Parakala in Warangal district has been residing at Chintal for two years. Bhuvan married a woman and the couple has a four-year-old daughter.

The police said that Bhuvan was addicted to alcohol and was harassing his wife. Unable to bear the harassment, the woman moved to her sister's home in Venkateshwara Nagar. On Friday, Bhuvan went to her wife's place and asked her to come back and stay with him but she refused and offered divorce to him.

Depressed over it, the man attempted suicide by setting himself on fire on Friday afternoon on a busy road. Passersby doused the fire and shifted him to Osmania hospital for treatment.
