Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has set a new high with a record number of passengers taking the metro ride on Friday.

Around 2.78 lakh passengers took the metro to reach their destination which is said to be the highest number in a day since its inauguration. However, the metro patronage has also seen a rise from 4,000 to 5,000 passengers in a week.

Over 1.3 lakh metro tickets were sold on Friday while others took the ride by using their smart card. The rise in the metro patronage is attributed to the heat wave conditions prevailed in the city.
