Metro works extending to Old City will be completed soon and the government is acquiring land for its completion, said Minister for Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) KT Rama Rao said.

Speaking in the assembly, KTR said that the centre has only 10 per cent of share in the metro and Rs 250 crore to be released more. The state government has been serious to provide hassle-free travel to the citizens, he added.

"With the blessings of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, more funds have been allocated to the development of Hyderabad and the main focus is to improve transportation," the minister said.

While presenting the budget in the assembly, finance minister Harish Rao said that phase 2 of the metro project will be consisting of two corridors -- BHEL to Lakdikapool and Raidurg to Shamshabad.
