Bolarum: Commuters traveling from Bolarum are forced to wait for hours due to long traffic jams at LC Gate No.250 near Bolarum Railway Station. Until the ROB gets ready, traffic snarls would have to faced, say residents. The works of ROB have been pending for many years.

The South Central Railway (SCR) sanctioned approval for this project and also asked the State government to contribute 50 per cent share but the project was stalled due to lack of funds.

For the past two months, trains frequency has increased at Bolarum railway station and often the railway level crossing gate is closed, which is resulting in commuters having to wait for an hour or take a long alternative route to reach the destination. Members of the Federation of Bolarum Colonies have filed two RTIs for knowing the status of the project. The first RTI was filed in July 2019 and the second one in January 2020.

Speaking to THI, Noor Ahmed, General Secretary of the Suburban Train Travelers Association, said, "The ROB construction works were sanctioned and amount should be shared equally, but it is delayed form the side of state government. Still they have not decided to contribute the estimated fund for this project and no paper work has been done for this project either."

As the frequency of the train has increased, there is a traffic jam for about 3 km and it takes almost 40 to 45 hours to clear the traffic. Many times we have approached the SCR officials to know the status of the construction of ROB but we have not received any response. Apart from this, even the Bolarum station does not have platform no 4. Only if the ROB is constructed can the station platform can be extended.

"Commuters of this area have been facing a lot of difficulties due to lack of proper rail/road connectivity for the students/employees. State government should release funds to begin the construction works," said CH Simhadri, resident of Bolarum.
