Cotton worth around Rs 50 lakh gutted in a fire mishap near Bathukamma Kunta in Jangaon Municipality limits on Tuesday evening. Luckily, there were no reports of casualties.

According reports, fire broke out in Shiva Cotton Industry Mills creating flutter among the residents. Before the fire tenders rushed to the spot, the workers tried their best to control the fire control by using fire safety equipment available with them. It took a couple of hours for the fire personnel to control the fire.
It's learnt that reason behind the fire was electric short circuit. The cause for the mishap and loss are yet to be ascertained. The owner of the mill was not available to get exact information. West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) B Sreenivas Reddy said that there was no loss of life. The police registered a case and investigation is on.
