Khammam: MP Nama Nageswar Rao asserted that he along with the party MPs would fight for more funds for Telangana to address the financial crisis caused by Covid-19 lockdown. He said Rs 20 lakh crore relief package announced by the Central government was of no use to the State and the Centre disappointed the State. Hence the TRS MPs will raise the issue of funds for Telangana in the next Parliament session.

Speaking with The Hans India on the occasion completing one year as MP and TRS Floor Leader in Lok Sabha on Sunday, Nageswar Rao said during the past one year he was able to raise many important issues related to Telangana in Lok Sabha in coordination with the party MPs. Issues like release of pending funds, funds for projects proposed under AP Reorganisation Act have been highlighted in the House. The injustice done to Telangana in the union budget allocation was seriously opposed in Lok Sabha, he added.

The Centre has to release about Rs 29, 891 crores under different schemes and the issue was raised in Lok Sabha as the delay in funds release has been affecting development works in the State, the MP said.

'Similarly, I demanded the Centre to set up Tribal University in Telangana as promised in the Reorganisation Act, besides delivering several other promises made in the Act. During debates in Lok Sabha, I asked the Central government to release funds for pending road and railway projects,' he said.

The MP said not only this, but efforts were also made to pressure the Centre for funds release for projects in the erstwhile Khammam district. Proposals were made for development of Khammam railway station and revived Kothagudem-Sirpur Kagaznagar passenger train.

Nageswar Rao, who was member of Standing Committee on Commerce, felt that he was satisfied with his work as MP in Lok Sbha. In the days to come extra efforts would be made to protect the interests of Telangana, he noted.

The MP called upon the farming community of Telangana to welcome and follow the regulated farming system introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The system was the need of the hour and helps farmers to get better price for their produce.
