As part of NDA government's efforts to bring back Indians stranded abroad, a flight carrying Indians mostly from the two Telugu states landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Shamshabad airport from Kuwait at 10.30 pm on Saturday.

Hyderabad: As part of NDA government's efforts to bring back Indians stranded abroad, a flight carrying Indians mostly from the two Telugu states landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Shamshabad airport from Kuwait at 10.30 pm on Saturday.The 163 passengers were screened with thermal scanners by medical teams from Airport Health Organisation and State Health department. Anuradha Medoju, Senior Regional Director from Union Health Ministry and incharge for TS and AP, stated that all these passengers, including students, traders and workers were screened in Kuwait before they boarded the special flight and none of them had any virus related symptoms.

After the health teams checked their health condition, they were sent to quarantine centres in special buses. While most of them preferred paid quarantine a few of them opted for government quarantine centres. The rate of paid quarantine centres is said to be between Rs 1500 and about Rs 3000. The Air India flight that left from Hyderabad to bring back the Telugus from Kuwait comprised Pilots -Capt Sharath, Nalli Kiran Kumar, K Anand, Rajesh Shaw and cabin crew supervisor -Sapna Menon along with Satheesh Miriyala, Lavanya , Reena Katre and Kotamraju Cyril.

It may be mentioned here that a passenger flight that arrived on Saturday is the first one to land at Shamshabad after 46-days of gap ever since the Centre cancelled all domestic and international flights in March last week to contain spread of Covid-19.

The flight from Kuwait is first of the seven flights that are scheduled to arrive in Hyderabad carrying Telugus stranded in various foreign countries. Flights from the US, the UK and a few more Gulf nations would be landing in Shamshabad airport in the next few days.
