Labour Minister unveils works worth Rs 10 crores
Rs 25 lakh spent on beautification of traffic island at Chintalkunta X Roads
LB Nagar: Telangana Labour Minister Malla Reddy, along with the city mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Malkajgiri MP Revanth Reddy and LB Nagar MLA Sudheer Reddy, inaugurated several developmental programs initiated by GHMC with an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore in LB Nagar zone on Sunday.
An animal care centre with an estimated cost of Rs 5.5 crore was inaugurated at Fathullaguda in Nagole division, 600 mm trunk line drainage works at an estimated cost of Rs 88 lakh at Fathullaguda, a model completed at a cost of Rs 88 lakh at Lalitha Nagar in Nagole division, RCC drainage works taken up at Ayyappa Colony at an estimated cost of Rs 1.96 crore and Chintalakunta junction island beautification which cost Rs 25 lakh were inaugurated by the minister on Sunday.
Among those who participated in the programmes were Corporators Sangeetha Prashanth Goud, Vittal Reddy, M Srinivas Rao, Rajashekhar Reddy and E Sagar Reddy, Zonal Commissioner N Srinivas Reddy, Additional Commissioner V Krishna, chief veterinary officer Venkateshwar Reddy, Deputy Commissioner Mukunda Reddy, Vijay Krishna and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Malla Reddy said that the city has been witnessing tremendous growth due to various developmental activities taken up by the state government under the leadership of CM K Chandrashekar Rao.
First in country
The animal care centre, inaugurated at Fathullaguda, is the first of its kind in the nation, built to modern standards. The centre will shelter around 400 street dogs, 200 monkeys, and more than 50 buffaloes. Another animal care centre is already operational at Amberpet.
Beautification of traffic island
The beautification of traffic island at Chintalkunta X Roads of LB Nagar division was completed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. The island includes a beautiful statue of a cinematographer representing cine studios near the location, idols of deer representing Mahaveer Haritha Vanam, and waterfalls.
Recently, traffic islands at Suchitra Junction, Lakdi-ka-pul Junction, Ayodhya Junction and Sangeet Junction were beautified. The beautification works at Chintalkunta were implemented by Urban Diversity department.
Later, the minister, along with city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, participated in the distribution of clay Ganesh idols.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the GHMC has been distributing 15,000 clay Ganesh idols freely to people to create awareness on celebrating pollution-free festival. He urged people to use idols that are made of clay and natural colours.
