Nirmal: Forest, Environment and Endowments Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy along with Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju inaugurated CCTV surveillance cameras. They unveiled the statue of Tribal legend Komaram Bheem at Yellareddypet village under rural police station limits in Nirmal district on Monday.
Explaining the benefits of CCTV cameras, Minister Reddy said the surveillance cameras play crucial role in crime investigations and people's participations is very important in the installation of CCTV cameras. Each camera works as equal to 100 police personnel, he added.
Remembering tribal legend Komaram Bheem, Indrakaran Reddy said that Bheem was born to Komaram Chennu and Sombaru in 1901 at Sankaypalli village in Asifabad district. Bheem fought for tribal rights, 'Jal, Jungle and Jameen' (water, forest and land) and he fought against Nizam Nawabs.
Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju said CCTV surveillance cameras work 24 hours and with the help of the footage, police can nab criminals easily with the evidence and after identifying the criminals. It helps in punishing punish the guilty. If CCTV cameras set up at business centres, they will track the movement of everyone, the SP said.
Speaking about tribal legend Bheem, the SP said the great leader had become the symbol of the slogan 'Jal, Jungle and Jameen', he fought for the aboriginal people, who exist with nature in the hills. Bheem fought for the forest rights from 1928 to 1940, claiming that the right over the forest was part of social justice, he said.
ZP chairperson Vijaya Lakshmi, Ramkishan Reddy, DSP Upendar Reddy, CI Srinivas Reddy, SI Krishna Kumar, Yellareddypet sarpanch Sunanda Ramulu and others were present.
