Officials swiftly clear debris at STP entrance

Rajendranagar: In a swift response to news story published in The Hans India, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) cleared all the garbage waste and removed debris at the main entrance of the sewerage treatment plant at Mir Alam tank.

The entire area was cleansed by spraying bleaching powder.

In the report, 'Mir Alam STP entrance reeks of official apathy' carried in The Hans India on March 12, highlighted the official apathy not far away from the much hyped beautification works being taken up at the 6 acres of open space in the name of Mir Alam Bahadur, the erstwhile Prime Minister of Hyderabad State.

The entire ambience of the STP represents an ugly side of the otherwise beautiful park inside the facility.

The report mentions that heaps of garbage occupies a major portion of the entrance of Mir Alam Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) causing inconvenience to the people, bystanders and the passengers as the stink emanating from the filth fills the air with foul smell all the time.

Shopkeepers and the locals, not to mention the wayfarers, throw the garbage bags from a distance towards the dust bins kept at park entrance.

This results in garbage strewn on the road and with sanitation workers not clearing waste on schedule heaps of garbage accumulates.

The passengers are forced to cover their noses to protect themselves from the unbearable foul smell emanating from the garbage strewn on the road.

After The Hans India published the report, GHMC removed all the garbage and debris and spread out bleaching powder as part of cleansing measures.

The officials also informed that the remaining works will be taken up shortly.
