As the State government is planning to improve the Dairy industry in the rural areas, the district administration has decided to distribute 1,000 units of subsidised buffalos to the beneficiaries.

For this, the officials have selected five mandals from which the beneficiaries would be selected for the scheme. The officials have selected Gattu, Maldakal, Gadwal, Dharur and KT Doddi mandals and for each mandal, as many as 200 units of buffaloes would be distributed.

"Already 587 from across five mandals have applied for the scheme. We will further scrutinise the applications and find out the most eligible beneficiaries and distribute the buffaloes," informed the Collector. As part of the scheme, every beneficiary will get four buffaloes as one unit which costs about Rs 4 lakhs. However, of this, the SC Corporation will bear Rs 2.40 lakh and the remaining would be funded by the lead bank.

For availing benefits under this scheme, the farmer must have to pay Rs 20,000 as his share. The Collector also directed the lead bank officials to issue consent letters to all beneficiaries for providing loans and at the same time, the SC Corporation officials are directed to provide proper training to farmers on taking care of buffaloes.
