Peddapalli: District Congress Committee (DCC) president Erla Komuraiah demanded Assembly Speaker P Srinivas Reddy the suspension of the membership of Congress MLAs, who defected into the ruling TRS.

As part of a call given by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Congress leaders staged a dharna under the leadership of Erla Komuraiah protesting the merging of CLP into TRS, in front of the Collectorate in Peddapalli on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, DCC president E Komuraiah alleged that instead of concentrating on ruling and solving the various public issues, the TRS is encouraging defections. It lured the elected MLAs of Congress party and trying to merge the CLP into the party, which is against the Indian Constitution.

The TRS is killing democracy in the State, he criticised.

Komuraiah demanded the Congress party MLAs, who shifted their loyalties and joined the ruling TRS, resign from their posts.

"They backstabbed the party, as they betrayed the Congress after winning on the party ticket. It is the Congress, which gave political life to them. They will not stay loyal to any party in future also. The people also realised this and will teach them a fitting lesson in the days to come," he warned.

DCC) president stated that if the Speaker don't suspend them, they will fight in the court, even appeal in Supreme Court seeking justice as per the Constitution to save the democracy in the State.

Congress leaders Bandari Sunil Goud, Akbaruddin, Sarwar Pasha, Manthani Narasingh, Rawoof, Kaveti Raja Gopal, Nallagonda Kumar, Vemula Raju, Karengula Ramesh, Narasingham, Aragonda Raj Kumar and Narsaiah were present along with others.
