Public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed on the conduct of GHMC elections in the High Court.
Public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed on the conduct of GHMC elections in the High Court. The plea stated that the elections should be held after rotation term of the reservation. "The GHMC elections are conducted based on the old reservation which is against the section 52E of the GHMC act," it added.
The petitioner also asked the court to grant a stay on the release of election notification until the rotation of reservation is made. Advocate Abhishek Reddy said that the PIL will be heard by the chief justice and transferred it to chief justice bench. The PIL will be heard tomorrow.
The state election commission has already released the final electoral roll for GHMC elections and is yet to release the election notification. The election notification is likely to be released this week and the elections may be held in December first week.
