Karimnagar: Select the sapling to be planted based on the soil of that particular place so that they can grow without any problems, ordered District Collector K Shashanka. As part of arrangements for launching 6th phase of Haritha Haram (HH) programme in the district, Collector K Shashanka, accompanied with City Mayor Y Sunil Rao and Municipal Commissioner V Kranthi inspected various places in Karimnagar city on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector ordered the officials to give more importance for growing saplings through Miyawaki system in this 6th phase of HH and to identify suitable places across the city for developing urban forests, he added.

In 2017, when the programme was inaugurated by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, large number of saplings were planted at Manair dam diving the areas into blocks. Saplings were planted in about four blocks till date. In this phase, saplings should be planted in the remaining five, six, seven, eight and ninth blocks, he said.

Collector Shashanka directed the officials concerned to remove weeds, busy and thorn plants that were grown in the space present between every block along with debris.

The Collector urged City Mayor Y Sunil Rao and Municipal Commissioner V Kranthi to appoint special staff for protecting the saplings and for watering them daily. If special focus is laid on the planted saplings then only, they will grow into tress and will give fresh air along with pleasant atmosphere, he said.

City Municipal Corporation Superintending Engineer Krishna Rao, Executive Engineer Raman, MRO Venkatesh and forest officials were present along with others.
