Hyderabad: A new initiative rolled out by the State School Education Department can now give officials falling under the VIP tag a chance to spend time with school children on every Saturday.

The department's new initiative gives officials of different departments across the State and other VIPs a chance to take part in either morning school prayers or games hour.

According to a circular issued by the School Education Commissioner, the initiative is rolled out following the instructions from the State Education Secretary. According to the instructions, School Headmasters of all the schools in the State can invite at least one VIP on each Saturday.

The VIPs include Collector, SP, DSP, Municipal Commissioner etc. However, the new initiative is meant for coordination, problem-solving and for other purposes wherein the officials can directly interact with the school children in school environs, the circular said.

According to the department, it is an initiative for the officials that come with an opportunity to have some fun time with the school children and also give whatever best they can to the school.

Speaking to The Hans India, School Education Commissioner T Vijaya Kumar said that the main focus of the programme is to make connectivity between the officials and the schools.

For example, when a District Collector visits a school without a compound wall, he can direct the officials to take up the work. This could provide employment for people in the village under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the school to have a compound wall.

Similarly, there are different departments with which the school can connect through the visiting officials. It would establish a much-needed connection with the officials who can do something for the improvement of the school.

That part, visits to the office will also provide a learning opportunity for the students to know the functioning of various departments.

On the flip side, during their visits, the officials will also have quite a time to spend with children with an opportunity to breathe some fresh air from their daily grinding official routines.
