Solar power opens new income avenue for farmers

Hanumakonda: Farmers should explore alternative sources of income alongside traditional agriculture, former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari said on Wednesday. He inaugurated a 2 MW solar power plant established by farmer Nelamancha Ajay Reddy at Rangarayagudem village under the PM-KUSUM scheme.

MLA Srihari said solar projects on barren or less-cultivated land can help farmers generate additional income by selling electricity to power companies. He noted that renewable energy can also support environmental protection and create employment opportunities in rural areas.

He congratulated Ajay Reddy for adopting solar power generation and urged farmers to make greater use of modern technology and diversify their income sources. Municipal Chairman Tatikonda Vinay Kumar, local Congress leaders, sarpanches, electricity officials, farmers and others attended the programme.
