Hyderabad: Hyderabad Mayor B Rammohan on Wednesday said that the government was looking at options to have dumping yards at different places to decrease the garbage load on the one at Jawaharnagar.

The Mayor on Wednesday had a meeting on the Jawaharnagar issues with the officials and Ramky representatives. The mayor said that every day Jawaharnagar dumping yard receives 6,000 metric tonnes of garbage and to decrease the load, government is contemplating to have alternative dumping yards in different places in the city. Hence, Ramky was not given permission to set up another power plant in the area, said Rammohan. Rammohan added, to find a permanent solution to the problems faced by Jawaharnagar area, a meeting with the Labour Minister Malla Reddy, corporators, officials and representatives of Ramky would be held soon.

Until then some measures would be taken up like providing drinking water through tankers, taking up survey for providing water connections to BPL, commercial and other beneficiaries and handing over reports to the water board.

The other measures include taking up spraying on the dumping yard for decreasing foul smell, organising health camps by GHMC, handing over materials like spraying machines and hand pumps for controlling seasonal diseases.
