Telangana government on Thursday issued a notification announcing new liquor policy which will be effective from November 1, 2019 to October 31, 2021.

It also tweaked the license rates based on the population. An amount of Rs 50 lakh to be paid if the population is below 5000 and Rs 55 lakh if the population is between 5000 and 50,000. For population between Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, an amount of Rs 60 lakh to be paid and Rs 65 lakh for having a population between one lakh to 5 lakh. However, Rs 85 lakh for population between 5 lakh to 20 lakh and Rs 1.10 crore for population above 20 lakh.

The government also fixed Rs 2 lakh fee for non-refundable application and the government will choose the shop owners through the lottery system. Meanwhile, The liquor shops under GHMC limits have to sell the liquor from 10 am to 11 pm while it is 10 pm in other areas.
