The Hyderabad city is decked up for the Bathukamma a festival of flowers, which will be celebrated for nine days from today. Beautiful Bathukamma arrangements are created using a variety of flowers found in nature, such as Tangedu, Gunugu, Chamanti, Katla, Ridge Gourd, Pumpkin, Hibiscus, and Oleander.
Subsequently, an idol of Goddess Gauramma is placed atop the Bathukamma, and women sing traditional songs. The festival is celebrated over a period of nine days.
The festivities begin today with 'Engili Puvvula Bathukamma' and conclude on the ninth day with 'Saddula Bathukamma'.
